   Why don’t people care about these creatures? For the very first time I just missed hitting one on the road the other night. I don’t think I could have forgiven myself If I hadn’t driven around it.

     I don’t know. And I was hoping this haiku would have implications that went even further than hapless unpopular animals. Not sure how well it succeeded.
